Las week Maribor joined the children, parents and teachers at the Otona Župančič Maribor Kindergarten, unit Mehurčki, as part of the UPSURGE project. They celebrated Children’s Week with a chestnut picnic and an educational gathering by the Pekrski potok in the beautiful nature!
The event was opened by the head of the kindergarten unit with a warm welcome, and then Kim Mezga delighted them with a short and playful workshop. Children of all age groups demonstrated the importance of maintaining a clean environment and everyone’s responsibility to protect natural habitats – especially in the area of Pekrski potok where they are growing up – through a game of imitating a polluted stream.
- The children learnt how to clean the stream and how to separate waste properly. We explored the importance of reusing things
- What we don’t need, we can donate!
- Together we learned about planting trees and monitoring their growth, which the children will be able to use at home.
It was a nice get-together and delicious roasted chestnuts.
Thank you all for your participation and support in our efforts for a better environment and a brighter future for our children!
