On Friday, October 25, members of the Competency Group at our Maribor demo site enjoyed a unique meeting outdoors, connecting with nature and each other. This time, the gathering took place at Pekrski Creek, where 216 new trees and shrubs have been planted this year as part of the Upsurge project.
Equipped with wearable sensors, the group walked along the beautiful stretch between Kardeljeva and Radvanjska roads, learning about the newly planted trees and the positive impact they’ll have on the area. Later, over a delicious lunch at a nearby tavern, members discussed about Place Lab activities, reviewed two recent workshops, and brainstormed exciting new ways to engage local residents and schools.
Both the Competency Group and project partners from RDA Podravje – Maribor are excited about the future of Pekrski Creek. With these nature-based solutions, they’re confident this area will soon become a vibrant, relaxing space for all Maribor residents to enjoy. Stay tuned for more updates on the Upsurge journey in Maribor!
