The effects of NBS intervention in Maribor, Slovenia – one of the UPSURGE demo-site – are now visible in the numerous trees planted.
The planting process around Pekrski potok began in April 2024 after all precise arrangements were made with the involved contractors. This arrangement was crucial for an accurate and precise stakeout of the site where the trees would be planted.
In the meantime, the planting company and the arborist compiled a list of trees, detailing the type, quantity, and location. The planting was planned in three phases and at the beginning of May 2024.
The total number of trees that were planted on site reached 216. A small number of trees were temporarily planted in pots due to ongoing construction. These trees will be planted on site once the construction is completed.
All trees will be maintained by the planting company for 3 years and monitored by the arborist. Additionally, for monitoring purposes, an interactive map was created, where all these trees are marked with detailed information (location, type, and condition) and is updated monthly by the Maribor’s arborist.
